Painting Groot: Bringing a Marvel Icon to Life
Every hand-painted nail starts with a simple sketch, and for this Groot design, I wanted to capture all of the little details that make him so recognizable. From the texture of his bark to the subtle highlights and shadows, this piece was all about patience and layering.
This video features soft, minimal editing so you can enjoy the painting process without constant cuts or fast transitions. It's meant to feel relaxing while giving you a closer look at how I build a detailed character design from start to finish.
For this nail, I began by sketching Groot with a 4B graphite pencil before painting with a combination of CANNI and Double Rhythm gel polishes. Of course don’t forget to use base coat, matte top coat, and glossy top coat to achieve the final look. The matte top coat helps flatten out the previous layers making it easier to outline or layer colors!
Whether you're a fellow nail artist, a Marvel fan, or simply enjoy watching detailed artwork come to life, I hope you enjoy following along with the process. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope this design inspires your next creative project!
